sri kopheswar temple 11nth century

kopeswar temple approximately in 11-12th century. As one enters, one first sees Vishnu (Dhopeshwar) and the Shivaling facing north. The remarkable part is that there is no separate Nandi Mandir. Separate Actor-Pendal, hall, old pillars, carvings of gods and male-female artists add to the grandeur of the architecture. The ceiling is semi-circular, on the outside, one witnesses a complete `Shivaleeamrit` carved.
Lord Shiva was intensely furious when sati Parvati jumped into Daxa`s sacrifice. He received peace of mind only after visiting the Khidrapur Mandir. Shankaracharya had appointed servants for the temple`s management. The Palanquin celebration on Shivratri is worth a view. Crowds gather the most on Mondays.
The artistic temple of Kopeshwar or Mahadev at Khidrapur is a treasure house of beautifully carved sculptures and a rare architectural marvel.
